Key Responsibilities:

  • Research the feasibility, design, operation, and performance of mechanisms, components, and systems.
  • Analyze dynamics and vibrations of mechanical systems and structures.
  • Supervise and inspect the installation of mechanical systems.
  • Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems.
  • Plan and manage projects, and prepare material, cost, and timing estimates, reports, and design specifications for machinery and systems.
  • Supervise technicians, technologists, and other engineers, and review and approve designs, calculations, and cost estimates.
  • Assess business opportunities and develop strategies.
  • Develop risk management plans.
  • Lead and instruct groups.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the hydroelectric industry.
  • Certifications:
    • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association.
    • Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) is an asset.
    • Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MS Windows, MS Office, MS Excel, and Primavera.
  • Experience with the installation, maintenance, and inspection of equipment or facilities.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance or control, project management, project coordination, and project planning.
  • Specialization in hydroelectric projects and mechanical engineering technology.
